Meet WIDE Radio’s new face with Latin American underground DJs

After a long time of preparation, as we took our first steps in music news and established strategic alliances around the world, the WIDE project will reach the next stage of its development: branching out into the territory of online radio. Building upon our experience at the various WIDE Radio Fiesta’s held during the second half of 2017, we’ll be broadcasting our pirate signal all throughout the Internet with a selection of quality transmissions.

By the 21st of this month, we’ll take the conversation on current music trends and innovation to a whole new level through a set of radio shows hosted by a team of known and charismatic DJs, producers and selectors based on Latin America and Spain, with each transmission uploaded afterwards as a podcast on both Soundcloud and Mixcloud.

Going South to North (just like our nefarious global conquest agenda) these are the shows that make up our programming and the talent behind each.

Still on Santiago, hailing from an unknown underground lair, Don Paula – a.k.a. Paula Isamit Morales – will schmooze you up on SLOW MO, a show on the hunt for the more diverging, provocative and weird sound niches of Electronica, Downtempo, Indie rock, Post-punk and Synthwave. We’ll patch you up to her deep underground playlists every other Sunday at 4PM on her time zone.

From Santiago de Chile comes the Makinmovs Radio Show, by the Global Bass and Footwork netlabel. DJ’s Wst, Dstrcv, Lampone and Veritas – its founding members – will drop in every Thursday at 9PM (on their country’s time zone) to talk about their latest productions and collaborations as well as current-day developments on these urban genres.

From Lima, Perú, the DJs Mijail Mitrovic, Mono con $uerte, Dr.100 and Lukro, from the Matraca netlabel will show us their mixing and remixing savoir-faire as they go through their repertoire and give their particular take on the global and local scenes of Juke, Footwork and Bass music with monthly broadcasts, on Fridays at 4 PM. on local Peruvian time.

Rising up the heat as we approach the Caribbean and hit the Patria, Valencia’s own DJ Daniel Drobinic – a.k.a. SUBDATA – hosts Club Jamz Radio, dedicated to your bread-and-butter club music served with a healthy amount of hip-hop influences, digging into the Club Music (UK Garage, Grime, Dancehall, Jersey Club, Ballroom and more) niches on Fridays at 8 PM Caracas’ local time.e

From Ciudad de México we’ll be receiving the contribution of Cocobass’ label associate JoniForest: the creative force behind the Jairomendez, Dubberman and LAKRA projects will host  MillionAir Music, a rather multi-faceted show covering Afrodisco, Rap, Breakbeat music, Jungle and Hip-hop, every other Tuesday at 6p.m. local CDMX time.

Madrid’s Moodulab netlabel leader and founding member, DJ Clash will host a space dedicated to latest projects and influences of his entreprise: a distinct and refreshing taste of Techno and experimental electronic music showcasing his and his signed artist’s productions, discussing the genre’s current day state and evolution every Saturday at 7 p.m. on Madrid’s local time.

Finally, our editor in chief and pally Nikols Latuff – a.k.a. Nikk1FM – will pop on our network from the AF-271 Flight, a show where she fine-comb sweeps the avant garde of current day R&B, Trip Hop, Experimental Electronica, Hip-hop and LGBTQ musical projects. Since she’s currently hopping from country to country, we still don’t have a set location and schedule for her show, but we’re sure to hear from her by Wednesday the 23rd, at 8 p.m. on Caracas local time.

With nothing left to add, we’ve put together a tiny clip to give a cryptic audiovisual support to this official communiqué. We’d like to thank J. Diaz Garzón, Luis Eduardo Capobianco, Luis ‘Crini’ García and Dan Buchanan for their mad filming skills and the edition performed by Leonel Ortega. We’re also very thankful to Daniel Drobinic’s for an excellent work at Production and to Luis Arturo Perdomo’s general handiness as production assistant.

Best regards:
