WIDE Recomienda: #0026

Itā€™s been quite a week for netlabel collabs and independent releases, and WIDE Recomienda brings all of it to you!

1. Mick JenkinsĀ – Understood

With just a few days to go for the release of Pieces of a Man,Ā Mick JenkinsĀ summons old heads and fans alike with the release of a video for “Understood”, featuring a candid portrait of the discipline, shared knowledge and family love of everyday life as he drops bars on the eternal themes of haters, fools and who cominā€™ up da rap game. Oldschool-ish lyrics to the definitely oldschool beats provided by indie darling Kaytranada.

2. Jaymie Silk – Day2Day

Montreal based producerĀ Jaymie Silk just joins Japanā€™s notorious netlabel TREKKIE TRAX for collab album :branch vol 1, featuring a veritable plethora of independent producers and new names. His contribution to the album, Day2Day, is a synth-plentiful 130 BPM banger with an atmosphere that is both mysterious and playful, fit for the ballroom galas the producerā€™s known to love.

3. Santo NiƱo ā€“ One + lofi

And speaking of synth-heavy, hereā€™s a track byĀ Santo NiƱo, a producer from CDMX with an eclectic style and about three years rollinā€™ around. Released on the underground music platform LACRA as the showpiece for his Bailando en la Obscuridad album, it makes for a nice little summary of the latterā€™s styles: pumping kicks, baile-funk beat-boxing and rhythmically playful chords.

4. Discos Pegaos ā€“ Pegamentos Vol. 4

Chilean netlabel Discos Pegaos returns with the fourth installment of their Pegamentos series. As experiemental as ever, the album traverses a soundscape of latin music infused techno, with a diversity of sonic textures delving into the odd and otherworldly. The EP is comprised by the works of long-time label contributors Alpha S, Dementira and AyeAye with Lechuga Zafiro and Sikuri in the manner of special guests.

5. Ernesto Pantin ā€“ L I L I T H

Keeping to the style of his latest solo releases, Venezuelan producerĀ Ernesto Pantin returns with a sweet little album in a back-to-the-classics disco-housey vibe. Gummy synths, electric piano, hissing snares and crunchy claps take you on a short trip to a nostalgic future from the past, if thereā€™s no misreading the Delorean front cover :3

6. Altered Natives ā€“ Where The Roses Grow Remix

Londonā€™s ownĀ Altered Natives was tasked with a remix of Sentinel 793 and Shama Josephā€™s Where the roses grow from their You Could Be You EP, and the result is anything short of amazing: a very nostalgic ā€˜90ish acid house track with a full and dreamy soundscape of oldschoolsy electronic instrument timbres. Kinda reminds you of Pacific State.
