On Friday 19th July, get ready to receive Poland based duo Lua Preta for the first time in the UK at The Jago, London with Rhythm Passport and University of Tropical Sound. This event promises a night of tropical bass, Afro-Latin beats and global sounds served with a Polish twist.

 

Lua Preta a duet consisting of; vocalist and MC Ms. Gia of Angolan descent and Polish DJ and producer Mentalcut. Together they bring a frenetic mixture of futuristic electronic music and African genres such as kuduro and gqom.

 

They will be performing in London after a hectic past few months travelling around Europe and America as well as releasing new music via Coffin Records [Italy], Man Recordings [Germany] and Good Enuff [USA], Mad Decent’s baby cousin. Now they are preparing their next conceptual EP that will explore Ms. Gia growing up in Poland at the verge of political system changes.

Naphta [Poland]

 

Musician, DJ and producer from Wroclaw has been involved in some of the best new music coming from the thriving Polish house panorama. Naphta blends grooves from all over the world, the slickness of disco-oriented house/techno music and free jazz creativity (with Sun Ra as his guide), with p-funk synths, wild guitars and afrobeat.

 

 

El Peche [Brazil]

 

São Paulo born, London raised DJ, producer and active collaborator of Pachamama’s psycho-tropical sound. El Peche’s influences range from the classics of Brazil’s Tropicalia movement such as Caetano Veloso to the legendary Orquestra Afro Brasileira. A heavy mix of european Techno and rhythmic Brazilian beats make his sound unarguably unique. He is also the founder of ZARAGATA netlabel.

 

 

Lou Pino [UK]

 

DJ and radio presenter Lou Pino is known for his popular monthly radio show Grand Parade on Reel Rebels Radio, a superb mix of vintage Jamaican, calypso and Latin music. He is also founder of In The City’s club night in Tottenham, London which helps to fund and support the local community.

 

 

Carthnage [Colombia & UK]

 

This project consisting of J. Lupo and A. Gelby features new afro house sounds and bass music from Maghreb to Durban. These two are the founders of University of Tropical Sound and producers of Global/UK/Latin Bass through Diezmo (@diezmomusic).
