Xavier Omär released his Pink Lightning EP, dedicated to his fans and inspired by love.
The ascending R&B singer Xavier Omar, a natural from California, has returned with a new EP entitled Pink Lightning, published by Never Sleep Music. Composed by promotional single “Runnin’ Round”, in which he kindly tells to bugger off to a dispassionate lover, and four additional tracks, the EP takes us for a ride on the loops and tumbles of romance, with a very seductive and personal take on sound.
In an interview, Xavier comments: “I wasn’t ready for a new album, nevertheless, I wanted to give new songs to my fans before year’s end, so I mustered my inspiration out of love for them, but I also want to share more of who I actually am. They believe I am kind and sweet, but there’s guts and strength that isn’t only a part of me, but of the music itself”.
The material barely reaches 16 minutes in duration, nevertheless, it surprises with some strategically placed epic moments in its development, making it a brief and pleasant trip: starting from the first track “Runnin’ Round”, with the catchiest lyrics, which is followed by “Stuck”, poppy-er and dancefloor-friendly. Then comes “Change On Me”, which features vocals from Leuca and is one of the EP’s best tracks, and finally, the emotive, almost acapella “The Title” and a remix of Chris La Rocca’s “Wild”.
Even thought Omär’s published two records on 2016 before the EP and he’s taken part in projects with renowned musicians like GoldLink, he hasn’t yet taken the jump towards the mainstream, but we’re certain that won’t take too long.
